For international organizations that have identified a program to implement in the area, 4YBIN provides the local capacity needed for the program and when appropriate, to allocate international experts. Local workers are adjusted to the circumstances and local project management, that speak the local language, can be intermediate with the project initiator. It is in the interest of 4YBIN to create employment for youth and women.

| Objective | In the wake of one of the most challenging humanitarian eras for the Tigray region, 4YBIN (Youth Business Innovation Network) is proud to announce a landmark project in partnership with the EGOAIZIA Association: the establishment of the Centre for Humanitarian Studies (CHS-T) in Mekelle. Hosted within the prestigious Mekelle University, this Center is designed to be a beacon of hope and progress, professionalizing the humanitarian sector to ensure that aid is not only delivered but managed with the highest standards of ethics, efficiency, and local leadership. In cultivating local expertise, the heart of the CHS-T lies in its commitment to capacity building. We are launching a comprehensive training program to equip 490 humanitarian professionals with a dedicated focus on ensuring at least 33% participation by women with the specialized skills needed to navigate a complex emergency environment. The curriculum delves into critical disciplines, including International Humanitarian Law, the ethics of humanitarian action, the international humanitarian system, and the management of the response cycle. We are transforming the professional landscape of humanitarian work in Tigray, Ethiopia by providing short-term diplomas and certificates. In empowering local leadership, we believe that the most effective humanitarian action is managed and led by those who know the community best. The CHS-T serves as a vital hub for staff from Tigrayan NGOs and CSOs, official administrators, and committed citizens. By centralizing training and promoting a dedicated community of practice, we are strengthening the local social fabric and ensuring that the roadmap for Tigray’s reconstruction is driven by local actors with strengthened capacities. As a hub for advocacy and research beyond the classroom, the Center will serve as a critical platform for social and political advocacy. Through rigorous research and data collection, the CHS-T will provide a proven basis to alert the international community to the on-going crisis and advocate for public policies that prioritize the rights of internally displaced persons and the most vulnerable. This evidence-based approach ensures that the voices of the community are heard at both the regional and international levels. As a shared commitment to quality rooted in the “triple nexus” approach simultaneously addressing humanitarian assistance, development, and peace building, the CHS-T is more than an academic institution; it is a strategic investment in the long-term resilience of Tigray. | Objective | 4YBIN, in partnership with selected government offices will provide targeted interventions to prevent, mitigate and respond to 12 vulnerable women in conflict affected communities in the selected intervention woreda. Women and girls will be educated on services available and the importance of seeking help provided with specific psychosocial support interventions through safe spaces and referral pathways, legal aid service, provision of NFI and food, provision of livestock package, community healing and trainings on entrepreneurship. Specifically, 4YBIN will work to establish and/or strengthen comprehensive service provision for Vulnerable women to provide life- saving services including health and psychosocial support, and referral linkage to other services and livelihood support. Through safe spaces (integrated into referral hospitals) in capital city of Tigray, vulnerable women and girls will receive case management services to ensure vulnerable women are supported to make informed decisions on all options available to them, and to ensure support from different service providers is provided in a coordinated manner. Life-saving medical support, legal aid as well as mental health referrals and provision of psychosocial support will be provided combined by provision of NFI, food, livestock and skill development training on entrepreneurship to 12 women and girls. A specific protection component and designated space will be provided to an additional these vulnerable women who need temporary and immediate accommodation to recover, given on-going insecurity in the surrounding community. SRH is considered an entry point for GBV services, and promotion will be facilitated through dedicated information sessions, using appropriate and culturally sensitive information, education and communication materials, and through specific “Reproductive Health Corners”, where women and girls can receive information and be sensitized on family planning and maternal health. Dignity kits will be provided to women and girls of reproductive age vulnerable women to address their menstrual hygiene and self-care needs. Alongside the static safe spaces, psychosocial support, and referrals through dedicated mental health professionals will be facilitated. In addition to the psycho social support, these vulnerable women will also be assisted with food, livestock for capacitating them economically once they trained on entrepreneurship. |

| Objective | Empowering Communities in Tigray: A Path to Recovery and Resilience In the conflict affected Tigray region, 4YBIN (Youth Business Innovation Network) is leading a transformative humanitarian mission to rebuild lives and restore hope. In close partnership with the EGOAIZIA Association and with the vital support of eLankidetza (the Basque Agency for Cooperation and Solidarity), we are implementing a comprehensive project focused on the woredas of Tsirae-Womberta and Wukro, areas severely impacted by the recent conflict. Our intervention is built on the understanding that true recovery must address both immediate physical needs and long-term emotional well-being. The population of Tigray, historically rooted in agriculture and solidarity, has faced unprecedented challenges due to war, climate change, and economic crisis. 4YBIN is committed to a global-local approach, leveraging our deep community roots to ensure that aid is culturally appropriate, transparent, and effective. Healing and Psychosocial Support Emotional recovery is the foundation of our work. We are creating safe, inclusive spaces for 1,800 beneficiaries, with a special focus on women survivors of sexual violence. By integrating traditional customs, such as ritualized coffee ceremonies and storytelling, we provide a culturally sensitive environment where women can share their experiences, manage post-traumatic stress, and rebuild their social fabric. Ensuring Food Security to combat the devastating effects of malnutrition, our project provides essential support to those most at risk. We are distributing highly nutritious food supplements to 800 children under five and providing food aid to 1,000 households including pregnant and lactating mothers. Through monthly nutritional screenings, we ensure early detection and care for the most vulnerable members of our community. For restoring sustainable livelihoods, we believe in empowering survivors to become self-sufficient agents of change. To this end, 120 women are receiving intensive training in entrepreneurship, climate change adaptation, and improved poultry farming. Each participant is provided with improved breed hens and feed, creating a sustainable source of income that promotes economic autonomy and reduces dependence on external aid. Advocacy and social cohesion of our mission extends beyond Tigray to the global stage. By collecting testimonies and facilitating dialogue at the Center for Humanitarian Studies (CHS-T), we are strengthening the community’s ability to claim their rights. In parallel, our partnership with EGOAIZIA brings the reality of the Tigray crisis to the Basque Country, promoting a critical global citizenship committed to human rights and solidarity. | Objective | Restoring Livelihoods and Hope in Eastern Tigray: A Path to Agricultural Recovery Since the outbreak of conflict in November 2020, the Tigray region has endured one of the most severe humanitarian crises of the century. In response, 4YBIN (Youth Business Innovation Network), in a dedicated partnership with the EGOAIZIA Association and with the vital support of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, is implementing a transformative project: “Agricultural Restoration through Reconstruction and Provision of Essentials for War-Affected Women and Youth in the Woreda Tsirae-Womberta”. Our mission is to move beyond temporary relief, building a foundation for long-term food security and economic resilience. At the heart of our intervention is the revitalization of rural livelihoods in the rural tabias of Tsirae-Womberta. We are identifying and supporting 250 vulnerable households ensuring that 50% are women-led and at least 10% include people with disabilities to provide them with certified seeds, modern farming tools, and intensive technical training. By equipping smallholders with the resources they need to diversify crops and restore family production, we are rebuilding the economic fabric of a community that has faced years of displacement and drought. Building on the success of our previous initiatives, we are committed to the continued growth of 60 women small producers who participated in our past programs. These women receive advanced entrepreneurial and technical training in agricultural production and small livestock, raising their financial autonomy and leadership within their communities. Through our local experts and participatory methods, we ensure that every action is culturally sensitive, transparent, and driven by the community’s own aspirations. At 4YBIN, we believe that true recovery is a triangular process involving local authorities, community leaders, and the survivors themselves and thus, we ensure that our response is not only effective but also deeply rooted in the culture and dignity of the Tigrayan people. | Objective | Building on a legacy of hope, 4YBIN (Youth Business Innovation Network) is proud to implement the second phase of our transformative HAFTEY Phase II project. In the local language, Haftey means “sister,” a name that embodies our deep-rooted commitment to standing alongside the women of Tigray as they rebuild their lives. In a dedicated partnership with the EGOAIZIA Association and 4YBIN Netherland, this project expands our reach to the rural environment of Tsiraewonberta Kihen kebelle, providing a vital lifeline to women survivors of conflict and gender-based violence. As a holistic journey to recovery, our mission is to empower 47 vulnerable women comprising 35 new participants and 12 “sisters” from our successful first phase project through a comprehensive, integrated approach. We believe that true resilience begins with healing the mind and spirit. To this end, the project provides psychosocial counselling, individual and group therapy, and legal assistance through specialized clinics, ensuring these survivors can reclaim both their emotional well-being and their fundamental rights. For planting seeds of economic independence, HAFTEY Phase II moves beyond immediate relief to promote long-term economic autonomy. We are equipping participants with the resources for sustainable livelihoods, focusing on improved poultry farming and the development of microenterprises based on their own priorities. By providing essential inputs, entrepreneurship training, and refresher support; we are helping women transition from aid recipients into productive leaders who can provide for their families. Restoring the social fabric through solidarity recovery is a shared journey. We are nurturing community healing through ritualized coffee ceremonies, creating safe, culturally appropriate spaces for women to share their stories and manage trauma while reducing social stigma. A cornerstone of this phase is the creation of a peer learning network, where the “sisters” from Phase I join new participants in joint events to share their experiences of recovery and success, strengthening the bonds of solidarity across the community. Building a sustainable future at 4YBIN, we are dedicated to more than just temporary aid; we are building a foundation for lasting change. By strengthening local institutional capacity and training government and civil society staff, we ensure that support systems for these women remain vigorous and effective. Together, we are not just restoring livelihoods; we are restoring the dignity, hope, and power of sisterhood in Tigray. |
