| The story | Given the impact of the war on the milk production and very low average milk yield arising from low yielding indigenous breads, there is an urgent need for rejuvenating the milk production of Tigray though the dissemination of Artificial Insemination services. The average daily milk production per cow in Tigray prior the outbreak of the war was only 1.25 liters, which is even lower than the national average. While it is true that several factors are attributable to the low milk productivity, the low yielding indigenous bread is the most important factor explaining the low average milk production. Hence, the demand for improving the milk productivity by improving the indigenous breads indicates substantial demand for artificial insemination services in the region. The rapidly growing population and urbanization rate of Tigray will derive the demand for artificial insemination services by deriving the demand for milk production. Consequently, this business plan envisages expanding the AI services outreach of the promoter of this business plan and hence exploiting the current and latent demand for AI services. |
