Coffee ceremony

As part of our program for the rehabilitation of the psychosocial well-being and productive fabric of war survivors we took the initiative to use coffee ceremonies as a platform for storytelling and information sharing among vulnerable communities, particularly war survivors. Tigray coffee ceremony is a deeply ingrained cultural practice across the region, including Ethiopia. The coffee ceremony is a social and cultural event that holds significant importance in Tigrian daily life. It is considered a symbol of hospitality, friendship, and community. Here are some general aspects of the traditional Tigrian coffee ceremony.  Believing its importance, community-building, trust-building, skill-building, and psychological well-being through coffee ceremonies is a thoughtful and impactful approach to promoting healing among war survivors. This approach not only provides a space for survivors to connect and empathize with each other but also serves as a therapeutic method to address the psychological impact of war, especially cases of sexual violence and abuse. The plan is to conduct 10 rounds of coffee ceremonies.
